Postsecondary education has become essential to success in the modern economy. Workers with college degrees enjoy higher salaries and lower unemployment rates than those with no tertiary training. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports a median annual salary of more than $60,000 for all individuals 25 or older with a bachelor's degree, versus just $36,000 for people whose education ended after high school (a difference of approximately 67%). Furthermore, graduates of the most selective universities typically earn starting salaries that are even higher than the median for all college-educated workers. According to the Wall Street Journal, the highest-earning new graduates come from the California Institute of Technology (median of $75,000 per year), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology ($72,000), Harvey Mudd College ($71,000), Princeton University ($66,000), and Harvard University ($63,000). These salaries usually increase substantially after 10 years on the job. 75% of Princeton alumni, for example, earn at least $100,000 annually during the middle years of their careers.

Meet an Istanbul SAT Tutor: Brian Y.
Brian Y. grew up in Olney, Maryland, which is outside of Washington, D.C. He graduated in the top 5% of his high school class and received SAT scores that were in the 99th percentile of all test-takers. He attended the University of Maryland on a full academic scholarship, completing a bachelor of arts in sociology. He then earned a master of arts in sociology at the University of Ohio, serving as a graduate teaching assistant.
Brian has been teaching prep courses and individual tutoring sessions for the SAT since 2009. He spent most of his career in his home region before relocating to Istanbul last year, and he now mentors our new hires. Brian's SAT students have been accepted to a large number of selective American universities, including most of the Ivy League schools. When he's not helping Istanbul students succeed on the SAT, Brian enjoys playing guitar, competing in marathons, and a full social life.
